How To Get To UC Santa Cruz Performing Arts Facilities By Bus

Due to the terrain of the campus and the locations of the roadways, getting to the Theater Arts Center or Music Center from the nearest bus stops involves a significant amount of walking – in some cases, on fairly steep slopes involving stairs. Bus riders can disembark at either the College Eight/Porter bus stop for the shorter but steeper route, or the Science Hill bus stop for the longer but stairless route. Patrons with mobility or stamina impairments who will be using public transit to get to campus have several options:
• If you are registered with Metro Paracruz, you can utilize their paratransit service.
• During school terms (approximately late September through mid-June, and late June through the end of August; please check the Registrar’s website for exact dates), you can use the campus shuttle service to get from certain bus stops to either the Theater Arts Center or the Music Center. Detailed instructions are provided below. A map showing these bus stops and shuttle stops is available here for downloading.

Please be aware that there is no campus shuttle service on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, or at night during the summer. During school breaks (the week before each quarter begins, and between quarters), there is limited bus service and no campus shuttle service.

School Term, Weekdays (7:30am to 7:00pm)
Arriving: Request the College Eight/Porter bus stop from the bus driver. Walk through College Eight parking lot and follow the foot path to the Performing Arts area. Departing: Follow the foot path from the Performing Arts area to College Eight. Cross Heller Drive and wait for a Metro bus or Loop shuttle at the Porter bus stop.

School Term, Nights (7:00pm to 11:00pm, every night)
Arriving: Request the Science Hill bus stop from the bus driver. Wait at the bus stop on the north side of the street for one of the East Night Core shuttle buses, which run twice per hour from 7:13pm to 11:43pm (from 6:43pm to 11:43pm on Saturday and Sunday). Tell the shuttle driver your destination. Departing: For the Theater Arts Center, please use the Upper Performing Arts shuttle stop on the west side of the road. For the Music Center, please use the shuttle stop just outside the Music Center to catch the West Night Core Shuttle.

Summer, Weekdays (7:30am to 6:00pm)
Arriving: Request the College Eight/Porter bus stop from the bus driver. Walk through College Eight parking lot and follow the foot path to the Performing Arts area. Departing: Follow the foot path from the Performing Arts area to College Eight. Cross Heller Drive and wait for a Metro bus or Loop shuttle at the Porter bus stop.
