How To Purchase a Parking Permit

Online Ordering and Application

The following types of parking permits may be ordered by submitting an application through our web site (Note: Eligibility requirements apply to all online permit and bus pass purchases):

Non-Expiring A, A Carpool, O, or MC Motorcyle Permit
Annual or Academic Year O Permit
Annual, Academic Year, or Quarterly A, B, or N Night Permit
A or B Limited Day Permit (requires regular schedule of less than 5 days per week)
Retiree Annual A Permit or Annual Metro Bus Pass
All types of Carpool Permits, including A, B, C, and R Carpool
Annual and Academic Year C Permit
Annual and Academic Year R Remote Permit
Scratch-off A, B, or R Packets (Full Packet of 50 or Half-Packet of 25)
Annual and Academic Year MC Motorcycle Permit
Free Remote Motorcycle Permit (No charge for permit; application is required)
Annual, Academic Year, or Quarterly N Night or NC Night Permit
Staff and Faculty Metro Bus Passes
Emergency Ride Home Program (For Staff and Faculty only: No charge for permit; application is required)
Bike Shower Program (For Staff and Faculty only: No charge for permit; application is required)

Submitting an application through our web site is the most convenient and efficient way to purchase these types of parking permits. When purchasing a permit students must submit a copy of their vehicle registration. Vehicle registrations can be emailed, faxed to 831/459-1366, or delivered in-person to the TAPS Sales Office.

Purchase a Permit at the TAPS Sales Office

The following types of parking permits must be purchased at the TAPS Sales Office
(Note: Eligibility requirements apply to all permit and bus pass purchases):

1-Month Temporary A, B, R Remote, or MC Motorcycle Permit
1-Week Temporary A, B, R Remote, or MC Motorcycle Permit
1-Day Temporary A, B, R Remote, N and NC Night, or MC Motorcycle Permit
Quarterly Metro Bus Pass (must meet eligibility requirements)

The TAPS Sales Office is located in the H Barn on the lower UCSC campus (map of location). Sales Office hours are Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please note that the Sales Office closes promptly at 5:00 p.m.; customers still in line at 5:00 p.m. will need to return the next business day to conduct their transaction.

Payment Options

For online applications we accept Visa or Mastercard. Payroll deduction is available to staff and faculty who qualify, for most types of permits. Students may elect to pay through their UCSC Student Account (excludes all types of Temporary permits) by selecting the UCSC Student Account button in the Payment and Authorization section of the online application. Cash, checks, and Visa or Mastercard are accepted at the TAPS Sales Office.

Buying a Permit at the Main Entrance Kiosk

As of March 4, 2013, staff, faculty, visitors, and guests may purchase a temporary 1-Day permit from the Main Entrance Kiosk located on Coolidge Drive (map of location), between the hours of 7:00am and 1:00pm, Monday through Friday. From 1:00pm to 5:00pm all permits must be purchased at the TAPS Sales Office located in the H Barn. Students may not purchase permits from the kiosk.

Paystation Permits

Short-term parking is available for Pay Station spaces in Hahn Lot 101, East Field House Lot 103, the Core West Parking Lot 112, and Performing Arts Lot 126. Pay stations accept coins, dollar bills, and credit cards and the cost is $1.50/hour. Anyone may purchase short-term parking in Paystation spaces.
