About Temporary Parking Permits

Temporary parking permits are sold at the TAPS Sales Office, according to affiliation and eligibility. Temporary parking permits are not sold on-line.

For Visitors & Guests

Visitors and guests may purchase one day temporary parking permits at the Main Entrance Kiosk located inside the campus main entrance, or at the TAPS Sales Office located in Barn H. Sales Office hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. & Kiosk hours are 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. A temporary one–day A (close-in) Permit is $6.00 or a temporary one-day R Remote Permit is $4.00. Night parking permits cost $3.00 per night. Those that arrive after 3:30 p.m. and will stay through the following day may purchase a combination night/day permit for $9.00. Visitors may purchase a temporary permit for up to three consecutive days; permits for stays longer than one day must be purchased from the TAPS Sales Office. Guests and visitors from other UC campuses may be eligible for parking reciprocity when visiting UC Santa Cruz.

Purchasing Temporary Permits for Specific Weekdays

Weekly and monthly permits that are valid only for specific weekdays or (weeknights) are available to eligible students, faculty and staff (see permit categories below). The cost for these "limited day" temporary permits is calculated by determining the number of days (based on the weekdays the permit will be valid for) during the permit span of the permit and multiplying the number of days by the daily temporary rate. For those with a set schedule for being on campus this option is a time saver - eliminating the need for more frequent stops at TAPS to purchase a daily permit.

Please note: temporary permits are not eligible for payroll deduction or student billing - payment by cash, check or charge is required.

For Faculty & Staff

Eligible faculty & staff can purchase temporary parking permits for A (close–in) parking, R Remote parking, and MC Motorcycle parking by the day, week or month. One day or one-night temporary permits can be purchased at the Main Entrance Kiosk from 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Temporary weekly or monthly permits must be purchased in–person at the TAPS Sales Office between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Eligible Graduate Students can purchase temporary parking permits for B (close–in) parking, R Remote parking, and MC Motorcycle parking by the day, week or month in–person at the TAPS Sales Office between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Graduate students may purchase a temporary one-day N Night Permit from the Main Entrance Kiosk after 3:30 p.m.

For Eligible Undergraduate Students

Eligible commuting Undergraduate Students (those not residing in on-campus University housing and off-campus University housing) can purchase temporary parking permits for R Remote parking and MC Motorcycle parking by the day, week or month in–person at the TAPS Sales Office between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Eligible Undergraduate Students may purchase a temporary one-day NC Night Commuter Permit from the Main Entrance Kiosk after 5:00 p.m; NC Night Commuter Permits are not sold to students that reside on-campus.
