Parking General Information

A valid UCSC permit or ParkMobile payment is required to park in all parking spaces on campus. Permits can be purchased weekdays at the TAPS Sales Office: see "Parking Permits" on the left-hand side of this page for more information.

Permit Requirements and Regulations
All parking regulations are enforced during finals, quarter breaks, and summer. Parking permit requirements vary from lot to lot; check the permit requirement hours posted at parking lot entrances or consult a parking lot map in advance to avoid receiving a citation. Permits must be fully displayed on the driver's side of the dashboard or on the rear view mirror in a position clearly visible to Parking Enforcement officers. Parking is allowed in marked spaces only that are designated for parking.

Permits are sold to individuals who are the registered owner of the vehicle parking on campus, and to individuals who's vehicles are registered to an immediate family member, by showing a current vehicle registration during the first purchase of a permit. "Immediate family" is determined by matching last names, or matching addresses between vehicle registrations and driver's licenses. For rented vehicles, a rental agreement must be presented at the time of purchase.

All parking permits allow the user to park in available spaces in lots posted for that permit type during the enforcement period stated on lot signs. Note that spaces reserved for a special use or permit type will be posted either individually or for a special section of a given lot. Do not park in these spaces without the appropriate permit listed on the reserved space or reserved area signs.

Resale, transfer or use by anyone other than original purchaser is prohibited and violations of this policy are subject to citation and additional sanctions. Permit sharing may result in citation issuance, revocation or suspension of future permit privileges, refund forfeiture, and/or a referral to the Student Judicial Affairs office.
