Coming Soon to UCSC: Electric Bike Share

UCSC and TAPS have partnered with the County of Santa Cruz, Cabrillo College, and the Cities of Santa Cruz, Capitola, and Watsonville to bring a new bike share system to Santa Cruz County providing a convenient, sustainable, and affordable way for community members and visitors to travel countywide.

Bike share can be greatly beneficial to not only university affiliates, but to anyone in the region when they choose their commute mode. We hope that students, employees, and guests consider this low-cost and convenient alternative to single occupancy vehicles when traveling to and from campus, and around the region itself.

Initially, approximately 400 BCycle e-Bikes and 800 docks will be available throughout the City of Santa Cruz and UCSC. There will be more than 20 docking locations across the residential campus, Westside Research Park, and the Coastal Science Campus, and in 2024, bike share will expand to Capitola, Cabrillo College, Watsonville and some unincorporated parts of the county.

Current UCSC community members will be able to sign up for special affiliate rental rates through an annual Bike Share membership.
