TAPS supports active and sustainable transportation and offers an Emergency Ride Home program for those UCSC employees who choose to use an alternative to driving alone at least one day a week. This includes carpooling, vanpooling, taking the bus, biking,* and/or walking.*
Eligible affiliates will receive one (1) $75 Uber voucher each year to use in the event of:
- Sudden or unexpected illness, accident, or injury (you or a family member).
- Individual catastrophe (i.e. house fire, gas leak, flood).
- A carpool or vanpool driver leaving campus unexpectedly.
- A stolen or broken bicycle.
- Your boss asking you to work a longer shift without sufficient notice.

- You do not drive alone and park on or near a UCSC campus or center as part of your commute.
- You do not live on the residential (main) campus.
- You physically commute to a UCSC campus or center at least once per week.
- You are required to be at a physical workplace for 20 or more hours per week.
