UPDATE: The Bike Library Application Deadline has been extended to November 3rd!

The UCSC Bike Library is a bike lending program that provides quarter-long (9 week) bike loans to increase ridership, safety, and bicycle awareness on the UCSC campus. Recipients receive everything they need to get started riding including a bike, helmet, lock, and set of lights as well as a safety orientation, maintenance assistance, and general support.

Bikes are available to students, faculty and staff of UC Santa Cruz for quarter-long loans. They are checked out each quarter during the end of the second week. If you have borrowed a bike from the Bike Library in a previous quarter, you may still apply again, but priority is given to new applicants.

Applications will be open until November 3rd. Apply now for your bike at bikelibrary.weebly.com.

You must attend a TAPS-sponsored Bicycle Safety Course in order to receive a bike. Dates and times of the class for Fall 2020 are:

  • October 15th, 5:30pm via Zoom
  • Early November (date TBD), 5:30pm via Zoom

The UCSC Bike Library aims to promote transportation sustainability and self-sufficiency and believes financial limitatiosns should not be a barrier, so all services are provided free of charge. But, while the program is free-to use, bike recipients are expected to pay for lost or broken equipment; recipients will be held accountable by billing to their student account.
