In response to feedback from staff, faculty and students, TAPS has expanded the Bike Shuttle service hours effective January 6th, 2020. The Bike Shuttle will now have afternoon service hours in addition to the morning service hours.
For bike commuters, climbing the hills up to campus can be difficult, so TAPS offers the Bike Shuttle as a solution to get commuters with their bikes up the hill with no extra sweat involved. This service is funded by parking fees and is only available to UCSC affiliates.
Catharina Casper-Lindley, Research Grant Program Officer in the Institute for the Biology of Stem Cells (IBSC) says, "I use the bike shuttle pretty much every day to get to work. I love to leave my car at home and get out for an easy bike ride without having to commit to bike up the entire hill."
With the expanded afternoon hours, the pick up location will remain at the CVS on Mission and Olive streets and the shuttle drops riders off on campus at the Physical Plant METRO Stop on the lower campus, and at the Engineering 2 Circle on the upper campus.
"Expanding the bike shuttle hours is an incremental, but valuable step towards University of California, campus, and state sustainability goals," said Dan Henderson, Director of TAPS. "We look forward to identifying and implementing additional program expansions, improvements, and new programs to help our students, staff, and faculty utilize alternatives to driving alone to campus.”
The new bike shuttle schedule will be as follows:
Morning Bike Shuttles
7:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday
Trips depart on the hour, and at :15, :30, and :45 after the hour.
Afternoon Bike Shuttles
12:30, 1:00, 2:00, and 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Rain Day Schedule Modifications
On rain days the Bike Shuttle operates two trips per hour, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Shuttle departs CVS at :00 and :30. Rainy weather cancels all regular :15 and :45 trips.

Westside Bike Shuttle Service During Quarter Breaks
The Bike Shuttle operates on a reduced schedule during quarter breaks (Curtailment/Intersession). During quarter breaks, departures are at 7:10 a.m., 7:40 a.m., 7:45 a.m., 8:10 a.m., 8:40 a.m., 8:45 a.m., 9:10 a.m., and 9:40 a.m.
Fall 2019/Winter 2020 Intersession Service Dates: 12/16/19 – 12/20/19; 1/02/20 – 1/03/20
Winter 2019/Spring 2019 Intersession Service Dates: 3/23/20 – 3/28/20; no service on 3/29/20
