Faculty, Staff, and Graduate Student 2019-20 Permit and Bus Pass Renewal

May 01, 2019

Annual parking permits and faculty / staff METRO bus passes expire on June 30, 2019. UC employees or graduate students who need to renew their parking permit or bus pass for 2019-20 can apply online now, or in person at the TAPS Sales Office. If you apply online by June 16th, and do not receive your permit by June 28, please come to the TAPS Sales Office in person to follow up.

Renewals for undergraduates will be announced in the coming weeks. Undergrads should not attempt to renew until that time.

Staff and faculty with multi-year parking permits do not need to reapply in order to continue using their permit unless they want to select a different type of permit or want to purchase a 2019-2020 METRO bus pass. If you are unsure if you have a multi-year permit, you can compare it to the online permit samples.

Have you considered joining a vanpool? TAPS is actively expanding its commuter vanpool program and has openings in routes from Aptos, San Jose, and Watsonville. We are also looking to start routes serving Hwy 9 and Salinas. Email the Vanpool Program for more information.

If you are considering forming a carpool and reducing permit costs, check out Zimride, UCSC’s exclusive ridematching program.

Finally, on May 15 – 22, if you are a student, remember to Vote Yes on Transit! – Yes on 73! at elections.ucsc.edu.  This measure aims to help reduce parking demand on campus and also to meet sustainability and carbon neutral goals. Should it fail, service levels for both METRO and Campus Transit will continue to be reduced or eliminated.
