Santa Cruz METRO Bus Service
All Santa Cruz METRO campus routes will be operating as of September 15, including school-term service. You can ride METRO fare-free September 15th through 29th! We strongly recommended that all students obtain their student ID with a current validator sticker as soon as possible.
METRO has temporarily suspended Route #22; Route #20 will be augmented and serve the UCSC Coastal Science Campus and Seymour Center on all weekday trips; the weekend Route 20 schedule continues to serve the Seymour Center only on select trips.
As a reminder, due to historic trends where ridership demand may exceed capacity during the morning commute, along with an ongoing operator shortage, we recommend leaving additional time for unforseen circumstances.
UCSC Campus Transit
UCSC Campus Transit is operating three on-campus routes: Loop, Upper Campus and Night Upper Campus. Please click here to view additional information regarding UCSC Campus Transit services for the fall quarter.
Slug Bike Life
Biking. It’s a Slug way of life. Sign up for bike events, free helmets and lights, giveaways, and more at slugbikelife.org! Join us for a group ride on September 28th and check our events and classes all quarter long. Keep up to date by signing up for the Slug Bike Life email list and follow on IG.
Bike Shuttle
The bike shuttle will operate on 30 minute frequencies between 7:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., Monday through Friday.
Bike Library
Want to take advantage of some of TAPS' bike programs, or just need a bike to help get you to and around campus? Check out a bike free for the quarter from the UCSC Bike Library. This student-run program lends out approximately 30 bikes each quarter. The bikes come with a helmet and a lock, and participants are required to participate in a safety workshop on October 6th from 12-1 pm (either virtually or in person). Applications for the Bike Library are open from September 22nd through September 29th.
Carpooling
Save money, socialize, and reduce your emissions by sharing the ride. Go Santa Cruz County, a ride-matching program, makes it easy to find others who want to carpool to campus.
Vanpool
We’re celebrating 30 years of vanpooling! Join our awesome vanpool community. Get in touch by emailing vanpool-group@ucsc.edu to find out how vanpool can help you arrive stress free.
Zipcar
If you have a temporary need for a vehicle, check out Zipcar, UCSC's car-sharing partner. Zipcar has cars all over the residential (main) campus that are available on an hourly or daily basis. Those who are at least 18 years old are eligible to join Zipcar. Receive UCSC affiliate pricing by signing up with your UCSC email.
ParkMobile
TAPS has continued to expand our ParkMobile options at the residential campus, Westside Research Park, and Coastal Science campus. Skip the permit Sales Office and pay hourly or daily as you go. Download the ParkMobile app on your smartphone and register for an account.
Beginning October 7th, ParkMobile will be available after 4:30pm on weekdays and all day on weekends in Lot 164 at John R. Lewis College. The parking fee will be $5 plus a $0.45 ParkMobile transaction fee. A, B, and N permit holders may continue to park in Lot 164 with a valid permit.
For those who have not used ParkMobile before, you can get started with these 3 steps:
- Download the ParkMobile app and set-up a profile (vehicle license plate required).
- Enter ParkMobile zone; Lot 164 will be #15164 (see lot signage).
- Select parking duration and proceed to checkout.
For those who do not have a smartphone or prefer not to use one, you may call 877-727-5718 to pay by phone.
