A section of Hagar Road between Steinhart Way and the East Field House will be closed during spring break from March 27th at 7:00 a.m. until March 28th at 4:00 p.m. to conduct a drilling investigation related to the sinkhole from earlier this year.
Campus Transit services / METRO
Campus Transit will operate modified Upper Campus routes, and will continue to serve the Village stops in both directions as well as the interior of East Remote. East Field House and Quarry stops will not be served during this closure, nor will East Remote stops on Hagar.
Campus Transit modified routing will also include detours into Cowell Circle in the clockwise direction for picking up and dropping off passengers.
METRO will bypass Hagar completely during the closure, instead using Coolidge in both directions. This will result in the suspension of METRO service at Quarry, East Field House, East Remote and Village stops. METRO will pick up and drop off eastbound passengers at McLaughlin and Hagar, provided it is safe to do so.
The Disability Van Service will continue to serve all areas of campus to the extent feasible.
During Spring Break, campus transit will have a reduced schedule.
Monday March 25-Tuesday, March 26: Regular Loop Route
- Clockwise Loops depart the Barn Theater every 20 minutes from 7:30 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.
- Counterclockwise Loops depart the Main Entrance at 2:40, 3:00, 3:20, 3:40, 5:00, and 5:20 p.m.
Wednesday, March 27: Modified Upper Campus Route
- Departs the Main Entrance every 30 minutes from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Departs the Barn Theater every 30 minutes from 7:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.
Thursday March 28: Modified Upper Campus Route
- NO SERVICE until 2:00 p.m. due to mandatory driver safety training. METRO will continue to operate as scheduled, on the modified route.
- Departs the Main Entrance every 30 minutes from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Departs the Barn Theater every 30 minutes from 2:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
There will be no Campus Transit service on March 23-24 and March 29-31. METRO buses will have a regular schedule on these dates.
All transit passengers should expect additional delays during this closure.
Parking
All parking lots will remain accessible during this closure. The following lots will have limited access:
- Lots 103A (East Field House) and 103B (Athletics and Recreation) will only be accessible from the South on Hagar.
- Lot 163 (Cowell Provost) will only be accessible from the North on Hagar.
Additional impacts
The closure of Hagar Road may increase traffic and congestion on other campus roads, particularly Coolidge Drive and Heller Drive. Members of the campus community should anticipate potential delays, and we encourage everyone to be patient and understanding. Please drive safely.
