Walk to Class Challenge Day will take place on the UC Santa Cruz campus on Tuesday, April 28th to promote walking as a viable and sustainable transportation mode for cross-campus travel, to reduce UCSC’s carbon footprint and to improve individual health.

The Campus Sustainability Plan (CSP) and Blueprint for a Sustainable Campus both contain visions and goals for a more sustainable campus. The Blueprint calls for the creation of a Walk to Class Challenge Day. The transportation section of the CSP calls for 75% of cross-campus travel to be made by human-powered modes and to engage students in choosing more sustainable modes of transportation. In 2014, 67% of trips on campus were made via human-powered modes (58% walking; 9% biking). Walk more on campus and help us reach our sustainability goals!

Every student is welcome and encouraged to participate in the Walk to Class movement!

All participants will take a quick survey register and the first 60 students to sign up will receive an event T-shirt! Upon completion of the Challenge Day, all participants will be entered into a raffle to win a $50 VISA gift card.
